I have a big female EBJD from Rapps, and she's been sharing a 55 gallon with my biggest Gold JD. She's 6-7" and he's about 5". They've been living together in peace for a couple months now. No spawning and little action. I know he's old enough, as a friend of mine has two spawns of golds from his siblings. She spawned about a year ago in a 125 community tank. To break up the monotony I threw in a BG male that recently killed his female. The BG is about 4".

Initially the BG hid, then came out to challenge the Gold. He even managed to win a couple of lip lock battles. The female EBJD came over to watch, and often poked at the Gold. The gold would stop to tail slap the EBJD. After about an hour it appear the gold has won. He's chasing the BG male around the tank mercilessly. He will soon be removed. I snapped a few pics, hopefully they'll turn out. Maybe this will get the other two "in the mood."

^5 I've used this methid a few times with great success... I typically use two females and one male... but it's good to see it works the other way around as well...

I tried a few shots with and without the flash. I wish I knew more about photoshop, I think some of these could be nice pictures.

Here's a shot of where it's all going down.

Sweet man! Good luck on this!

I have my two remaining EBJD's from the five I got from Hollywood in the same tank as my two smallest Gold JD's. I think the biggest EBJD is a male - not sure, for sure. I am hoping one of the smallest golds turns out to be a female. No blue on the gill plates of any of my golds at this point. The 5th largest gold who is the largest gold in the tank with my EBJD's seems to get along very well with my biggest EBJD. They seem to both be tolerant of each other, but not real tolerant of the other blue or gold in the tank. I hope this is a sign of budding romance, but they are both a little over 3" so it is a bit early yet to get too excited...

In my case then, 4 would be a croud.

If all goes well for both of us, I would be interested in trading BG/GG's...

Really excellent shots there man. I especially like the ones with all 3 types of JDs in it. I should have some photos soon myself.

Update...
I've been going the last few days. Just before I left the gold had been showing bright pink under the chin and belly. The female, is now hiding in the corner, and the male is swimming freely. Before the BG introduction it was usually the opposite.

In my 75 gallon I noticed some courting behavior between some golds, and my blues came over to check it out. There was some gold on gold tail slapping, some blue on gold tail slapping and some blue on blue tail slapping. Hopefully someone will figure it out and we'll get eggs.
