I have close to fifty Metynsis in various tanks as dithers and targets for my CA cichlids. Most of them are in the 5-6" range. a few that are in the pond are 8". In one of my larger grow out tanks, when the lights come on, they are generally in a group. There are fifteen in this tank...here's a group shot of some of them.

Also in that tank are Blue Labridens and some Fredrichsthali. Here's a sub adult female approaching the "herd".

Here she is trying blend in. LOL She is one half of a breeding pair that I have in that tank. I have a total of nine of the F0 P. fredrichsthali from Cenote Escondido. Four are in this tank, two in another, and a trio in yet another tank.

Here's the tank with the trio. Two females and one male. The male has settled into a breeding area and is trying to entice the female to join. The female appears to be more interested in chasing the "third wheel" female around the tank. The breeding half female is this electric yellow...the contender is a drab gold. I have several other photos taken around the same time. More later...

One shot of the female F0 P. motaguense (rio Blanco)...i have a breeding pair solo in a 180 gallon tank. For two years I had the tank open. After several batches of fry...and out of the blue...the male laid a beat down on the female. In the process he got his fins torn up a bit. I put a complete divider in the tank several months ago to give them an opportunity to mend fins. Since then, they have bred through the divider with no problem. Here she is with some of the fry. I have a tank full of one inch fry that I will be bringing to the convention.
